5 AMAZING TIPS ON HELPING YOUR CHILDREN ENJOY YOUR WEDDING

Updated: Dec 2, 2021

So your wedding date has been booked and the EXCITEMENT has set in. For couples out there with children of their own there's such an added bit of excitement as you will want them to be INVOLVED in as much of your day as possible.

Having been in the same boat with our own son back when myself and my wife were married I'd like to offer you 5 of the most AMAZING WAYS to help your children look back at your wedding day with FOND MEMORIES.

1. MAKE THEM PART OF THE SQUAD

Can you PICTURE THE SCENE when you tell your kids that your wedding date is set and they will be HELPING MAMMY AND DADDY choose dresses, suits etc. From that moment on your wedding will occupy their minds with so many thoughts especially if they're at an age to appreciate the role. If you plan on doing any DIY projects for the wedding let them chip in, so on the day they can be telling anyone who listens 'I HELPED MAKE THAT'

2. THEIR CLOTHES ARE AS IMPORTANT AS YOURS

It goes without saying no one wants to upstage the Bride and Groom on a wedding day but in the eyes of your children, while Mammy might look like a QUEEN I want to look like a PRINCESS and the same goes for your son, he will want to be as COOL AS DADDY on the day, so make sure that they feel that way throughout the whole process.

3. GIVE THEM IMPORTANT JOBS

There are now so many tasks that can be given to your children on YOUR WEDDING DAY. Jobs like handing over the rings, pouring the sand, tying the ribbons, doing a reading during the service etc, and all these add to the MEMORIES of them being a major part of the big occasion.

4. THEIR EMOTIONS ADD TO THE DAY

Your wedding day will be a minefield of emotion for all involved especially your children so expect everything from tears to laughter. Your big day has FINALLY ARRIVED and the exciting journey you shared with your children over the planning stages comes down to this one day, they will be NERVOUS AND EXCITED for it to go perfect.

5. HAVE A BABYSITTER READY

Your children will play such a big part in your wedding that at some stage during the day tiredness will start to set in but one thing you have to remember is that IT'S YOUR BIG DAY. You have dreamt of this all your life and the day has finally arrived, you want it to be PERFECT so there is no harm handing over the reigns once the time comes to do so. There are so many great services for babysitting at weddings, whether it be a relative, a professional childminding service you booked yourself or someone your hotel recommends it is important that this is nearly TOP OF YOUR LIST. While you and your partner dance the night away you can do so knowing your children are safe and content.
